DiscoGel Injection for Spine Disc Herniation
Discogel is a safe and innovative solution for the treatment of spine disc herniation. A minimally invasive solution for the treatment of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar herniated discs under local anaesthesia.
Discogel is a minimally invasive procedure for discopathy (otherwise known as slipped, prolapsed, bulging or herniated disc) results in an immediate pain reduction up to 80% on the following day in a vast majority of patients, with almost 90% success rate.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
DiscoGel@ is a radiopaque gel implant, injected percutaneously into the nucleus pulposus.
Reduces the hyperpressure within the
intradical space
- Ethanol in the DiscoGel induces water migration from the
peripheral to the centre of the disc.
- Micronized Tungsten allows the visualization of the gel
progression under the fluoroscopic control where the
injection flow can be observed.
Reduces the inflammation produced by
the annular tears
- Cellulose has an osmotic effect.
- Combined with Micronized Tungsten, DiscoGel8 forms
into a soft "metallic sponge" prothesis in the disc fissures
when in contact with water that makes a physical barrier
inside the disc.
- This seals any annular tears / cracks in the disc
- The physical barrier blocks the any pro-inflammatorymolecules that generate pain in the disc.
